Do You Wait For The Police? Or Do You Take Care of Yourself?

The police have no legal duty to respond and prevent crime or protect the victim. There’s over ten various supreme court and state court cases where individuals sued because the police did not protect them. Not one was won by the individuals. The supreme court has said, “You, and only you, are responsible for your security and the security of your family and loved ones.” That was the essence of a U.S. Supreme Court decision in the early 1980’s when they ruled that the police do not have a duty to protect you as an individual, but to protect society as a whole.

If someone is threatening you or even physically attacking you, Do you call the police and wait for them to arrive?  Two minutes, 3 minutes, 10 minutes or more. How quick can they get there?  I am not a big advocate of violence but if you are attacked, what are you going to do. If it comes down to a choice between survival for your family you really only have one choice.  Protect them at all costs.  When I was a little boy I remember my father telling me “Never, ever fight!  But if you are forced to fight, never lose.”  We sell tools for protection on our website
